"A História das Três Marias" [The story of the Three Maries], as well as the book that inspires it, is a poetic version of a legend that presents the magic on the life of three beautiful sisters that used to live on the shores of the legendary São Francisco River. The characters from Minas Gerais state are weaved with the folk imaginary and reach full enchantment upon being interpreted by talented actresses. The sisters wave us in the direction of the mysteries that are experienced when plodding daily with the elements of nature.
The act of planting, fishing and the chores of the kitchen are entwined onto the direct acquaintanceship with the land, water, fire and water that sustains everything.
Breathing the river´s boons, the Marias transport us to the labyrinths and graces of love and passion that reach its culmination when the drift of the “Old Chico” [the river] father of the waters stops running, since from the damming of the river a lake is born – The Sweet Sea of the State of Minas Gerais. Here, the deep dive in the immenseness of the soul is necessary so the transformation is complete.
This story invites for a closer and more delicate encounter with the meanders of the feminine universe.

Iara (Zackia) is a painter in existential crisis, who returns to her home town of Três Marias to rescue her memory, restore her self-esteem and love for life. Through her paintings she accesses the characters of her childhood, the mysterious and enchanting Marias.
The three sisters Maria Francisca (Amanda Daura), Maria das Dores (Graciele Leite) e Maria Geralda (Lauren Calado), live at the end of the 50´s in a small village on the shores of the São Francisco River.
Their mother, before passing away, gives them a stone as a symbol of their origin (the stars) and pass them the mission of helping in the transformation of people by the use of their gifts.
The sisters live certain conflicts when they realize they´re different from the regular people. The news of the construction of the dam which was going to block the waters of the São Francisco River and immerge the entire region arrives. All must move from their lands and the changes reverberate within.
The Marias gradually unleash themselves from the earthy appeals, until the moment when the stone falls into the waters and they intuitively feel attracted to the dive, this way crossing the door that takes them to the stars.
Through the transmutation of the Marias, Iara rescues her personal power emerging from the waters under the light of the full moon.
